Welcome to 69ers Taxis, a trusted family-run taxi company based in Dunstable and proudly serving the Bedfordshire community and beyond for over 30 years.

69ers is run and operated by husband-and-wife team, Azeem and Fay. To them, the 69ers family is all about our drivers, our team, our customers and the community we’ve grown up alongside.

Azeem Akhtar - Cricket obsessed. Family focused. Community driven. And always working to keep 69ers moving forward.

Azeem is a local family man and proud dad of three. In between his dad duties and running 69ers, you’ll almost certainly find him on a cricket pitch. Azeem has dedicated his Saturdays and Sundays to cricket pretty much every weekend since the age of 11 and currently plays for his local club, Eaton Bray. He might be getting a little slower these days, but the dedication is definitely still there!

That same commitment goes into running 69ers. Azeem puts a huge amount of time and effort into making sure the company delivers the safe, friendly and reliable service that our local community has come to expect and can depend on.

His goal is to continue growing 69ers, while never losing the family-run, community-focused values at the heart of the company. He is dedicated and focused on providing a reliable, on-time taxi service and a five-star experience every time, so local people can get out and about safely and confidently.

Fay Thomas – Crochet obsessed former Midwife. Keeper of the family. And the accounts. Keeping everything organised behind the scenes.

Prior to joining 69ers, Fay followed her passion for caring for others and spent 10 years working withing the NHS as a midwife. Life took an unexpected turn in 2021,when she became extremely unwell with COVID-19, spending a long period in intensive care and on a ventilator.

After working incredibly hard through her recovery, returning to the NHS sadly wasn’t possible. Fay instead focused on her children and supporting one of her youngest who is autistic and needs some extra time and love. At the same time she started helping out a little behind the scenes at 69ers and before she knew it, ended up in the office most days and now takes care of accounts, admin, customer care, community projects and generally keeping everything (and occasionally Azeem!) organised!

Outside of work, Fay loves a nice meal out with friends and has a slight crochet obsession… although Azeem might argue there’s nothing slight about the amount of yarn and unfinished projects that have taken over the house – and occasionally the office!

Fay is dedicated in growing the business as a family, supporting local schools, charities and community projects along the way, while providing a service local people know they can depend on.
